This past Friday, our brother Joshua Kim shared about his experience abroad at the Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel. He took four classes during his time there, including a Hebrew language course. Along with the beautiful sights, Josh was able to witness the roots of the Gospel. He shared from his personal journal about the loneliness he experienced and the moments of self reflection that he benefitted from those times. His trip was made possible by the grace of God (and the Meyers-Stern Scholarship). Today was our first official Large Group of 2016! The leadership team introduced our vision for the semester: "We are a family committed to the wholehearted pursuit of God and His Agape love all for the glory of our King." After great worship, Reuben shared a message on the meaning of God's family. We are born and adopted as heirs into His kingdom with a holy Father and King. We are a family built on Christ. We are water buffaloes that love one another to the end. That's so fetch!
Key Verses: 1 John 3:1 Romans 8:17 John 11:41 1 Peter 1:23 Snowpocalypse 2016 hit William and Mary very hard on Friday. Official Large Group was canceled and ACF was snowed in. But ACF did not give up! Members gathered in one of the Jamestown Lounges. An entertaining game of Train Wreck ensued and Melody and Megan led a Praise and Prayer night in which Biblical verses were read and meditated on. Hot chocolate was served afterwards. Home Sweet Home!
Key Verses: Job 1:21 Matthew 11:28 Ephesians 1:18 1 John 4: 9-10 It was a special night for newcomer's to ACF! Members spoke about glorifying God through their passions in short "TEDtalks". Megan shared about how understanding the vast love of God was revealed to her through her songwriting process. Esther talked about how God intentionally uses Greek in the Bible to represent His attention to detail and care.
ACF has kicked off the first large group of the semester! We began the night with a fun game of "Who Am I?" that had everyone guessing who the name of the person was taped to their forehead. Later, Jane spoke on the topic of priorities, emphasizing the importance of daily prayer and praise. Jesus shouldn't just be on the top of our list, but he should be THE list.
Key Verses: Ephesians 3: 14-19, Zephaniah 3:17, Matthew 6:33, Acts 6:4, 1 Peter 1:22 |
